Kranti Goud delivered one of the standout moments of the WPL season with a classic fast-bowling dismissal, producing a near-perfect jaffa to clean up Danni Wyatt during a key league clash. The UP Warriorz pacer showcased control, movement and composure as she played a decisive role in restricting Gujarat Giants to a below-par total.

Wyatt’s aggressive start after promotion

Gujarat Giants made a bold call by including Danni Wyatt in the playing XI and promoting her to open the batting. The move paid early dividends as Wyatt came out with clear intent, using her experience to attack the powerplay and get her side off to a brisk start.

She looked in good touch, picking gaps and rotating strike efficiently, racing to 14 off just 7 deliveries. The Giants appeared set for a strong platform before the momentum was abruptly halted by a moment of fast-bowling excellence.

The jaffa that turned the innings

On the final ball of the third over, Kranti Goud produced a delivery every fast bowler dreams of. Bowling full and on a probing line, the ball pitched and then nipped away just enough to challenge the batter’s judgement.

Wyatt, expecting the ball to hold its line, played inside the line with a straight bat. She was drawn too far across, unable to cover the subtle movement. The ball beat the outside edge and crashed into the top of off stump, a dismissal that perfectly illustrated the art of setting up a batter and beating them with movement rather than pace alone.

It was one of the most satisfying modes of dismissal for a pacer, luring a batter into defence before sneaking past the bat to hit the stumps.

Kranti backs it up with a complete spell

Kranti did not stop there. She removed Anushka Sharma also inside powerplay, further denting Gujarat Giants’ batting effort. Across her four overs, she maintained discipline with her lengths and seam position, conceding very little while consistently threatening the stumps.

She finished with outstanding figures of 4-0-18-2, a spell that stood out for both control and impact. Her ability to strike early underlined her growing importance in the UP Warriorz attack.

Gujarat Giants kept in check

Despite a few late contributions, Gujarat Giants were never able to fully recover from the early blows. UP Warriorz’s bowlers applied sustained pressure through the middle overs, preventing any significant acceleration at the death.

At the end of 20 overs, Gujarat Giants were restricted to 153 for 8, a total that reflected both disciplined bowling and sharp execution of plans, with Kranti’s spell setting the tone.

Why this spell stood out

In a tournament dominated by aggressive batting, moments like Kranti Goud’s dismissal of Danni Wyatt stand out for their technical quality. It was not just a wicket, but a lesson in seam bowling, patience and precision. For a young Indian pacer to dismiss an experienced international batter in such fashion adds weight to the performance.

As the WPL progresses, spells like this reinforce Kranti Goud’s reputation as a bowler capable of producing game-changing moments, especially when her side needs them most.
